At Woods and Woods, we take pride in lending our time and resources to local causes that help others in our community. Our lawyers and staff members are proud to support a variety of community initiatives and charities, including:
Toys for Tots Chili Cook-Off
Attorneys and staff from Woods and Woods will be participating in the Second Annual Trial by Fire Chili Cook-Off on Monday, November 17 from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. at Old Post Office Plaza. For a donation of $5 you can sample as much chili as you dare—from mouth-searing hot varieties to mild white chili—accompanied by cornbread, crackers, cookies, and a beverage. Vote for your favorite chili in five categories using donations. All proceeds will benefit Evansville Toys for Tots, so ballot stuffing is encouraged!
WABX Ride for the Heroes
Several members of Woods and Woods took part in Ride for the Heroes to support the local Indiana Army National Guard, Unit 163. All proceeds from this motorcycle ride benefited the families of the troops that are currently deployed.
Stars and Stripes Fly High
Lucas Place II proudly hoisted Old Glory high on their shining new flagpole this Veterans Day. We were honored to help fund the new pole and joined Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann in celebrating the event at Lucas Place II.
Lending a Hand to Light Things Up
The Woods and Woods team stopped by Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights to hand out candy, man the entrance, and assist in making the 20th annual event a success. Each December, Easter Seals Southwestern Indiana transforms Garvin Park with spectacular light displays to raise funds to provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy sessions to children and adults with disabilities.
Our Chili is Hot Stuff
The Woods and Woods team took home first place in the Fire Alarm division of the Evansville Toys for Tots Chili Cook-Off! Brandi Staples cooked up her winning recipe with help from Patrick Garrett and Amanda Watjen. We are proud to support this wonderful cause and assist our community in providing Christmas gifts for area families in need.

Woods and Woods Helps to Preserve Downtown
Evansville-based law firm Woods and Woods relocated in November 2004 to the Vanderburgh County Jail and Sheriff’s Residence, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. An exquisite example of gothic revival architecture, the structure was built in 1890 and was welcomed with much acclaim and publicity. It was the first building of its kind in Evansville—not only was it visually striking; it also served as a functional place to house accused criminals. View more about the Preserve Downtown initiative.
