To advocate for the Firm’s clients competently, ethically, and efficiently within the scope of representation as determined by the Supervising Attorney (POA); assist in developing internal goals, processes and procedures; developing and managing support staff; remaining educated and informed of changes in law regarding area of specialty.Essential Functions
Output competent legal representation to the firm’s clients under a supervising attorney (POA) in an effort to ethically maximize the client’s benefit while utilizing efficient methods to also maximize the firm’s profit.
1. Hours of Service
Generally, this position is self-regulated regarding daily work hours. This position is a full-time position and requires some of these hours to be worked in the office setting. Local attorneys are asked to be present in the office Monday-Wednesday, when possible, with the option of work from home Thursday and Friday or as needed on a temporary basis. Hours should be worked during normal business hours of the firm so attorneys can be available for their support staff although other arrangements are acceptable as needed on a temporary basis due to unforeseen circumstances or compliance with company policy.
Attorneys are expected to work full time hours at minimum but may be required to work as many hours as necessary to carry out the essentially daily functions required of their position and workload. “Full time” guidelines may be adopted from hourly staff requirements, inclusive of “paid time off.” Time off is not required to be approved in advance; however, the attorney is expected to make arrangements which allows for their workload to be responsibly managed in the respective attorney’s absence. Absences and planned vacations should be reported to the appropriate management and HR to allow for necessary coverage.
2. Legal Representation, Advocacy, and Case Management Functions
The attorney is expected to use their knowledge, skills, and expertise to:
• Ethically advocate to maximize client’s benefit while using the most efficient company methods and resources
• Identify and resolve legal issues and client control issues within the scope of representation.
• Take part in quality control of the respective attorney’s work product, including by and through their team staff, and identify and raise any issues or areas of concern regarding representation or management of duties to team supervisors. This includes careful review and execution of internal work product as well as communication with and submission on behalf of the client.
• Identify and plan for development of meritorious client claims and issues in a manner using due diligence to advocate for the client within the scope of representation.
– work with a team of legal analysts to ensure objectives of representation are identified in a timely manner and goals of representation can be met with efficiency for client and firm.
– understand and take part in the workload of the legal analyst to ensure the firm continues to provide competent advocacy to the client within the scope of representation.
– develop strategies to resolve claims favorably and cost-effectively.
– develop strong arguments of competent representation for the clients.
– stay informed of current regulations and changes in the law concerning their specialty and effectively communication their knowledge to their staff and clients.
•Ensure internal policy and protocol is being utilized appropriately through staff and under management to carry out the duties of competent representation ethically and efficiently within the legal scope and in the best interest of the client.
3. Management Duties
•Work with a team as a lead manager to ensure duties and responsibilities within the scope of representation are being addressed and fulfilled.
•Correspond with team manager and team leader to address issues of production, quality, or interpersonal issues on their team.
•Take part in direct review of work product produced by staff to ensure quality and legal/factual accuracy prior to filing or submission.
•Work with appropriate managers to address any concerns regarding a team member’s ability to carry out essential duties.
•Engage in active coaching and training as needed of all team members utilizing available team or firm resources.4. Systemic Responsibility to the Firm
•Report and take part in attorney/management meetings as scheduled in an advisory capacity to discuss internal processing and standard procedures designed to manage essential functions of the Firm efficiently and effectively
•Ensure staff follows standard operating procedures as determined in above noted meetings
•Raise issues of concern regarding standard operating procedures and internal processing to upper management or in above noted meetings for discussion and resolution
•Engage as a member of the Marketing Team to reasonably support the Firm’s goals
